Psychopathology refers to the study of mental illness or mental disorders. For the purpose of disseminating information on givingpsychologyaway.net, I have chosen to use the taxonomy—classification system—used in the DSM-IV-TR (see link to the right). This classification system, however, is controversial (see, “Controversial Issues in Psychology” section—”Catergorical v. Dimensional Diagnoses”) and, as such, should not, necessarily, be considered definitive. Disorders Usually First Diagnosed in Infancy, Childhood, or Adolescence Delirium, Dementia, and Amnestic and Other Cognitive Disorders Mental Disorders Due to a General Medical Condition Not Elsewhere Classified Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders Sexual and Gender Identity Disorder Impulse-Control Disorders Not Elsewhere Classified
